Rabita, which was founded in 1381 H [1962], is a popular, international, Islamic and non-governmental organization, at which Muslims all over the world are represented.
Rabita is represented in a number of international organizations such as the Organization of Islamic Conferences, where it enjoys the position of an observer member, as well as the United Nations, where it also enjoys category A observer status as a non-governmental organization with consultative status at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Rabita is also a member of the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural organization (UNESCO) and the UN International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) as well as the International Supreme Council for Dawah and Relief, where it enjoys the status of a founding member.
