Reasons to Homeschool
Your Children
The first and foremost reason to educate
our children in the home is to ensure that they are being educated according to
the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet (saws). The greatest gift we can give
our children is the commitment to follow the straight path as the Qur'an states;
"Surely, this Qur'an guides to that which is the straightest, and gives good
news to believers who practice good and they will get a great reward." (Qur'an
17:9)
"And He (commands you, saying) : This is my straight path, so follow it. Do not
follow other paths, which will separate you from His path. Thus He has ordered
you so that you may be truly obedient." (Qur'an 6:153)
"O you who have believed, save yourselves and your families from a fire whose
fuel is men and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, stern [and] severe,
who do not disobey Allah in what He orders them and [who] do [precisely] what
they are commanded." (Qur'an 77:6)
The Prophet (saws) said:
"All of you are shepherds, and each one is responsible for his flock. A leader
of people is a shepherd and responsible for them. A man is like a shepherd over
his family, and he is responsible for his flock. A woman is like a shepherd over
her husband's house and children, and she is responsible for them. And a slave
is a guardian of his master's property and is responsible for it. So all of you
are guardians and are responsible for your charges."
(Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
By ensuring the quality of our children's education we may be able to help save
our children from the hellfire insha'Allah.
We as parents cannot take lightly the responsibility that Allah has given to us.
Nor can we delegate this responsibility to others.
For surely we will all stand before Allah one day and answer to him as to the
children He placed in our care, and how we motivated them in their pursuing the
akhirah (hereafter) our real home, and not this world a place of examination.
May Allah guide us all to make the decision that will earn His pleasure and not
His wrath
Ameen.
